Coconut Oil – Good or Bad ???

coconut3-Coconut-Oil-for-Treatment_zps2507eb554-Coconut-Oil-Hair-Care-Treatments--290x217_zps03cc37ff           Coconut oil is being talked about all over the internet these days so is it truth or trend to what is being said on internet space??

I can try to shed some light on the coconut oil dilemma.

I use and LOVE the one in picture above I have found it to work the best for my family :)

Virgin (unrefined) coconut oil (VCO) is a bit different from other oils:

  • It is 92% saturated fat, compared to the saturated fat in other products: olive and soybean oils (about 15%), butter (63%), and palm kernel oil (82%). For further comparison, the fat in beef is about 50% saturated fat. Now don’t start freaking out thinking coconut is already a foe. Just wait…
  • It contains a high percentage of medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), whereas other oils are made up of long-chain triglycerides (LCTs). Without getting too deep into the science end of things, here’s why one researcher says this is important: “MCTs are transported directly from the intestinal tract to the liver, where they’re likely to be directly burned off as fuel and raise the metabolic rate slightly.”

After some research, here are some interesting things I’ve discovered about VCO:

Besides including VCO in your diet, it also has some other uses:

If you decide to cook with coconut oil, it’s important to know which form (virgin or refined) is best. According to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, VCO is best for baking or medium-heat sautéing (up to 350*), if you’re looking for a bit of a tropical flavor, as a substitute for shortening (VCO has no trans fats), or as a vegan replacement for butter. Refined coconut oil can be used for medium-high heat sautéing or stir-frying (up to 425*). VCO is also often used by candy makers because it doesn’t go rancid quickly. New to baking with coconut oil ?? I will share over the next few weeks some of my cooking tips with coconut oil as well as a few others I follow :)

So for me Coconut oil is GOOD but I will let you be the judge of it in your own way of living / lifestyle :)

Blessings until next time,

Recipe For the Gluten Free P B & J Cupcakes-

So for the cupcakes-

I used – 4 eggs (you separate the yokes from the whites but ALL egg will be used) .

1/2 teaspoon cream of tarter and a pinch of salt .

3 tablespoons granulated sugar,

3/4 cup creamy organic peanut butter,

3 tablespoons flavorless vegetable oil (I only had NON GMO Canola Oil so used that tasted fine)

1 teaspoon gluten free vanilla extract,

1/2 cup ground Almonds (Almond Meal),

1 teaspoon baking soda,

1/4 cup organic strawberry jam.

8 ounces organic cream cheese @ room temperature

1 1/2 sticks organic grass-fed unsalted butter also @ room temperature

1 teaspoon gluten-free vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups organic NON-GMO powdered sugar -sifted

3 heeping tablespoons Organic good quality strawberry jam

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare the cupcake pan by placing cupcake liners inside. With an electric mixer on high speed whip the 4 egg whites only (saving yokes in another clean bowl) with the salt and cream of tarter until soft peaks appear. With mixer running add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until stiff peaks form.

In the bowl with the 4 egg yolks beat yolks with the peanut butter, oil, and vanilla with mixer until smooth. Add Almond meal and baking soda. Mix Well.  Now add in the  bowl with beaten egg whites to peanut butter bowl with a spatula or spoon until batter is no longer streaky.

Put about 2 little (not heaping) tablespoons of batter in bottom of cupcakes liners then add 1 teaspoon of jam to each cupcake and then top each with rest of batter.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cupcakes have risen, and are golden in color and clean tooth pick when checking for done-ness also I suggest depending on ovens checking it at the 18 minute mark.

In a bowl with electric mixer blend together the cream cheese, butter and vanilla. Turn mixer off and add powdered sugar. Start mixer again on low speed and blend in the sugar increasing speed until mixture is smooth very smooth. Add the jam and Mix until just mixed in :)

Are You Still Deciding If Essential Oil Use Is For You ??? Maybe This Will Help ………

Have you been riding the fence on whether or not to give Young Living Essential Oils a chance?  If so, let me point out a few things that might make your decision a bit easier.

The Everyday Oils Kit, the one you probably hear everyone raving over, just got even better.  The kit now comes with TEN (10) bottles of therapeutic grade essential oils!

The oils are as follows:

  • Joy
  • Frankincense
  • Lemon
  • Lavender
  • Peppermint
  • Purification
  • Panaway
  • Peace  & Calming®
  • Thieves®
  • Valor®

That’s 10 bottles of oil for you to try out and see what the hype is all about.  That’s 10 bottles of oil to use topically on your skin, aromatically by diffusing or inhaling, internally by placing a drop or two in a glass of water or hot tea, under your tongue or on the roof of your mouth, or in a capsule.

You say you don’t have a diffuser?

If you purchase the Premium Starter Kit you do!

BasicStart+ Home Diffuser+Everyday
Allow me to crunch some numbers for you.

The Everyday Oils Kit is $163.16 for just the 10 bottles of oil.  That’s roughly $16.00 a bottle.  That’s a good deal in itself.  These particular bottles are 5 mL.  That means there are about 85 drops of oil per bottle.  You normally only use one drop of oil at a time so some bottles may last you several months.  In fact, I still have a couple 5 mL bottles that I purchased in July that I’m still using!

If you purchase the Premium Starter Kit for $150.00 you’ve saved $13.16 right off the bat!  Included in the Premium Starter Kit is the Everyday Oils Kit (10 bottles of essential oil) PLUS the Home Diffuser (a $75.00 value).  Now you’ve saved an additional $75.00 making your total savings $88.16 so far.

What else comes in the Premium Starter Kit, you ask?

A 5 mL bottle of Stress Away, one of my absolute favorite bottles of oil.  It’s one I never leave home without {more savings}, 10 sample packets of essential oil that you can share with your family and friends {more savings}, 2 samples of NingXia Red {more savings}, and more.

How can you use/benefit from using therapeutic grade essential oils?

Here are just a few ways you can use essential oils in place of OTC medications, cleaning products, etc.

  • Pain Management
  • Arthritis
  • Indigestion  (Peppermint, Lemon, and DiGize are excellent for this.  I speak from personal experience!)
  • Headaches  (We use Peppermint and/or Stress Away for headaches.)
  • Remove Warts  (I removed 2 warts on my daughter’s hand and knee using Frankincense & Thieves.)
  • Acne
  • Fever  (Peppermint is a cooling oil and can be used to bring down fever.)
  • Inflammation
  • Colds/Flu
  • Kills bacteria
  •  Cleaning Agent
  • Air Purifier  (We use Purification, Lemon, and Thieves in the diffuser to get rid of musky smells/odors.  We’re currently living in a basement and any of these three oils are a great choice for odors.)
  • Cooking
  • Detox
  • Boost your Immune System
  • Insect Repellent  (Purification and Lavender are great at repelling bugs and taking away stings/itches if you do get stung or bit.  We’ve used these oils for mosquitoes, gnats, and bee stings.)

By purchasing the Premium Starter Kit you automatically become a member of Young Living.  What that means is that you can take 24% off all of your future purchases from Young Living!

Do you have to sell anything?  Absolutely NOT!  But, you’ll most likely be so impressed with the results you receive from your oils that you just might decide to give it a try!  ;)

Now, have I simplified things enough for you?  Do you have any questions about essential oils such as how to use them or what to use them for?  If so, leave a comment below or email me at and I’ll be glad to answer them for you.

You may also order individual oils if you’d like to do that.  All purchases can be made Here.. When signing up as a Customer or a Member/Distributor, be sure to include MY Member number (1413840) in the Sponsor ID and Enroller ID sections, like shown below so you’ll be placed on my team.

If you choose to purchase the Premium Starter Kit, or any other starter kit for that matter, I’ll gladly add you to 3 of our Facebook support groups where you can learn more about essential oils and how to use them, as well as how to grow your Young Living business if you decide to go that route.

Think about – what gets in the way of your peace spiritually?

I am the light of the world.” John 8:12
I am the door.” John 10:9
